USEFUL INFORMATION

The Region of Central Tzoumerka can be approached by car and can be easily reached from the A5 Motorway, known also as Ionia Odos. Either coming from a nearby airport or big city (for example Athens, Thessaloniki, Ioannina, Patra) you will take the exit to the city of Arta (Exit No.12).
The Workshop Host will pickup the participants from a central location in the city of Arta (information will be shared via email).
The distance from the city of Arta to the hotel we are staying in Vourgareli village is 60km or about an hour of driving in a very beautiful scenery.
The nearest airport is in the city of Ioannina, and an airport pickup is also possible upon prior notice and agreement.

The cost per person is 1000€, including accommodation for three (3) nights, breakfast and dinner per day.
Partners who do not wish to participate in the photography tuition are welcome at a reduced rate, contact me for more details.
In case you don’t want accommodation and meal to be arranged by me, I can provide information on where to look for hotel rooms.
In order to book your place, a deposit fee of 30% is required.
The full payment must be cleared thirty (30) days before the starting date of the Workshop.

Any change or cancellation from the participant must be send directly with an email at workshop[@]christopheanagno.com

For cancellations up to 30 days before the workshop, there is the right to get a 100% refund of the money, minus the possible costs of banking transactions for booking and refunds.
For cancellations in the period from 30 to 7 days before the workshop, there is the right to get a 50% refund of the participation cost, minus the costs of banking transactions for booking and refunds.
For cancellations less than 7 days before the workshop date or occurs during the Workshop, there is no refund right BUT you have the right to attend a similar Workshop for the next one (1) year at a discounted cost.

Please note that any cancellation of participation is valid from the moment we receive it written on email and AFTER you will receive a confirmation response from our side.

These workshops are a lot of fun, providing a unique nature experience, but for me the most important thing is to feel safe and secure and enjoy the experience.
For this reason all the locations chosen for this workshop, are easily accessed and are close to main roads or nearby villages, with a minimum level of physical activity. However, due to the nature of this Workshop, some slight hiking in the mountains will be done daily so if fitness or mobility is an issue please let me know prior to the Workshop.

Your camera : either a DSLR or mirrorless, we need a camera capable of manual settings and interchangeable lenses. If it helps to understand the topics better for controlling your camera and feel more confident with its usage, bring along your camera manual and I will be happy to help you more.

Lenses : Wide angle lenses are preferred, still even a kit lens will do the job. Telephoto and Macro lenses also work perfectly out in nature.
During the workshop I will provide many Tokina lenses to the participants for testing purposes, in case you don’t have in your possession any fast aperture or wide angle lens, or you simply want to try something different from yours.

Filters : Landscape photography is about controlling and manipulating the available light, so If you have filters in your gear, bring them with you and I will help you make the best possible result by using them. During the workshop you will be able to test on your lenses various filters from Hoya, Cokin & Kenko, like Neutral Density (ND), Graduated Neutral Density (Grad ND), Circular Polarizers, Color Filters and Infrared filters.

Tripod : A sturdy tripod is a must have for this type of photography as also for timelapse, so bring one with you if you can. I have in my possession spare tripods in case you can’t bring yours for the workshop. Please let me know before the Workshop to make the necessary arrangements.

Batteries and Memory Cards : At least two (2) fully charged batteries for the camera are required, to provide a level of autonomy but due to the cold weather of the mountains, batteries drain fast so it is good to have at least a spare with you. A mobile power source (power-bank) is also a must have for this workshop as it will give you the ability to charge your batteries out in the field.
Regarding memory cards, bring at least two (2) with you with a size bigger than 64gb/card.

Accessories / Various Items : A basic intervalometer is required if you plan to film for time-lapse sequences or just to have better control over your long exposure times. They are inexpensive, with a minimum price of around 20€ and you can find them in camera stores or in Amazon and Ebay.
For more advanced sequences, with smooth transitions to day to night (to day) a more dedicated device is required. During the Workshop I will provide a Timelapse+ View Controller for testing and usage purposes plus a special discount in case you want to buy one.
A Head Lamp is an also must have inexpensive accessory that will help you walk more easily when the light fades and also, let your hands free to change camera settings etc. If bugs in general are a problem to you, or simply make you feel uneasy, bring a bug repellent, although I will also have some in my bag just in case.

(Optional) Laptop, Tablet, Smartphone : If you would like to take notes or follow along with the processing, you may want to bring a laptop along. In the hotel we will have daily classroom sessions and we will use a projector to show the post processing workflow step by step from my computer, as we will edit the images that you captured during the on-location photo shooting session. Tablets and smartphones can also be helpful for planning as also to use them as controllers in motion control systems or in specific applications like QDSLRDashboard & Timelapse+ View for smooth day to night to day transitions.

(Optional) Motion Control System : If you have a system in your possession, bring it with you if it is easy to transport. During the workshop I will provide a Cinetics Lynx 3 Axis Motion Control System to experiment with your sequences.

(Optional) Star Tracker : If you have a Star Tracker in your possession, bring it with you if it is easy to transport. During the workshop I will provide Star Trackers from Kenko and Slik, which are very portable and easy to set-up, so to capture your first tracked shots of the Night Sky.

Weather in the mountains plays a very key role in landscape photography but it is highly unpredictable, despite what the weather forecast can say.
This Workshop depends on the weather as it can provide a very interesting element in photography, but as mentioned before, SAFETY always comes first so we will not risk or jeopardize our lives if weather becomes very bad.

Although the climate in general is more mild in Greece compared to other European countries, still it is cold and temperatures may and will drop below 0°C, so bring warm mountain clothes and rain resistant jackets because we will be outdoors many hours per day.
The trick to stay warm in the mountains is to have multiple layers of clothing instead of wearing one very “big” warm jacket which can easily get wet or even damaged.

At the beginning of the Workshop we will analyze how to effectively pack our Camera Bags for outdoor shooting so to not be tired after a small hike.

For landscape photography images we will emphasize and use software applications like Photoshop and Lightroom plus free applications like ICE (Image Compositing Editor).

For time-lapses except the above, we will also use software like LRTimelapse and Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve.
