Five days (February 7-11 2024) filled with breathtaking landscapes and celestial marvels have come to an end, marking the conclusion of an unforgettable one-on-one landscape photography and astrophotography workshop in the picturesque villages of Zagori and Metsovo, the serene Aoos Lake and in some well hidden locations of the area.

Along with João, we embarked on a journey of discovery, blending the art of capturing the serenity of the earth’s natural wonders along with the beauty of the night sky.

During daytime, we found ourselves surrounded by panoramic vistas that seemed to stretch on for eternity. Against this backdrop of rugged peaks and verdant valleys, we honed our skills, mastering the interplay of light and shadow to create images that spoke to the soul.

And as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink, the clouds slowly dissolved and our focus shifted to the canvas of the night sky. Far away from the city lights, the stars sparkled with an intensity that seemed almost surreal.

We were captivated by the ethereal beauty of the Orion Nebula, and guided by the stars, we immersed ourselves in the art of astrophotography, capturing the nebula’s delicate tendrils of light as they danced against the dark canvas of space.

During those 5 days, we didn’t just capture images; we delved into dedicated techniques for astrophotography, landscape photography, and timelapse, exploring the intricacies of each discipline and discovering how to best showcase the beauty of our surroundings through our lenses.

From long exposures to composition techniques, each technique added depth and dimension to our photographs, allowing us to create truly unique images.

In each of my workshops, which are supported by Tokina Lenses, Hoya Filters and Slik Tripods, participants are welcome to use all available equipment, enhancing their learning experience and enabling them to push the boundaries of their creativity.

But our journey didn’t end with photography alone. We immersed ourselves in the local culture, savoring traditional meals that tantalized the taste buds with flavors unique to the region. From hearty stews to savory pies, each dish was a culinary delight that provided nourishment for both body and soul. And let’s not forget the local beers, which added a refreshing touch to our evenings as we reflected on the day’s adventures under the starlit sky.

As we bid farewell to Epirus, we carry with us not only photographs and memories but a deep appreciation for the beauty of the world around us.
