USEFUL INFORMATION

The island of Antiparos is easily approached as it is very close to the island of Paros, which offers an international airport and a sea port.
There are a lot of airlines that fly to and from Paros but due to high season for summer holidays in these islands at the time of the workshop, it is advised to book early to reserve your seat.
There are also many ferries that arrive daily from the port of Piraeus to Paros and you probably won’t have a problem getting a ticket on time in that case, still if booked early it will be much better.
From the airport of Paros or from the port of Paros to Antiparos, there are buses and taxis that can transport you to the smaller port of Pounta, from which you will take the local ferry to Antiparos.

The cost per person is 500€, including two (2) dinners for the two nights of your workshop. Accommodation is not included.
In case you want accommodation to be arranged by me, I can provide information on possible hotel rooms.
In order to book your place, a registration fee of 20% is required.
The full payment must be cleared thirty (30) days before the starting date of the Workshop.

Any change or cancellation from the participant must be send directly with an email at workshop@christopheanagno.com

For cancellations up to 30 days before the workshop, there is the right to get a 100% refund of the money, minus the possible costs of banking transactions for booking and refunds.
For cancellations in the period from 30 to 7 days before the activity, there is the right to get a 50% refund of the participation cost, minus the costs of banking transactions for booking and refunds.
For cancellations less than 7 days before the date there is no refund right, and all the cost of the workshop will be withheld.
If the cancellation occurs during the Workshop, then you cannot receive a refund.

Please note that any cancellation of participation is valid from the moment we receive it written on email and you will receive a confirmation response from our side.

All locations chosen for this workshop are carefully chosen to be easily accessed and close to the coastline, with minimal level of physical activity, as my main goal is to feel safe and secure during the night.
However, if fitness or mobility is an issue please let me know, as there are other locations which offer great shooting possibilities close to the road or near the village.

Your camera : Either a DSLR or mirrorless, we need a camera capable of manual settings and interchangeable lenses. If it helps to understand the topics better for controlling your camera and feel more confident with its usage, bring along your camera manual and I will be happy to help you get more familiar with your gear.

Your Lenses : Wide angle lenses are preferred, as also fast lenses with aperture F2.8, F2 or faster, still even a kit lens will do the job, at least for the beginning. During the workshop I will provide various Tokina lenses to all the participants for testing purposes, in case you don’t have in your possession any fast aperture or wide angle lens, or you simply want to try something different from yours.
Also, during the workshop you will be able to test on your lenses two of the best light pollution filters available, the Hoya Starscape Filter and Cokin Clearsky Filter.

Tripod : A sturdy tripod is a must have for this type of photography so bring one with you if you can.
Spare tripods are available in case you can’t bring yours for the workshop. Please let me know before arriving to the island to make the arrangements.

Batteries and Memory Cards : At least two (2) fully charged batteries for the camera are required, as the long exposures and the type of photography we are going to make, demands lot of processing power. Fast Memory Cards of at least 64 or 128gb are preferred, with the ideal being 128gb.

Accessories / Various Items : A basic intervalometer is required if you plan to film for time-lapse sequences. They are also inexpensive, with a minimum price of 20 euros and you can find them in camera stores or in Ebay/Amazon.
For more advanced sequences, with smooth transitions to day to night (to day) a more dedicated device is required.
During the Workshop I will provide a Timelapse+ View Controller for testing and usage purposes.
A Red Head Lamp is a must have inexpensive accessory that will help you work at night without losing your night vision and also, let your hands free to change camera settings etc. In case you don’t have one, I can also provide that to you.
If mosquitoes are a problem to you, or simply make you feel uneasy, bring a bug repellent, although I will also have some in my bag just in case.

(Optional) Motion Control System : If you have a system in your possesion, bring it with you if it is easy to transport. During the workshop I will provide a Cinetics Lynx 3 Axis Motion Control System to experiment with your sequences.

(Optional) Star Tracker : If you have a star tracker in your possesion, bring it with you if it is easy to transport. During the workshop I will provide some Slik ECH630 Astra Star Trackers to experiment with longer exposures nightscapes.

(Optional) Laptop and Tablet / Smartphone : If you would like to take notes or follow along with the processing, you may want to bring a laptop along. In my studio we will have daily classroom sessions and we will use a projector to show the post processing workflow step by step from my computer, as we will edit the images that you captured during the on-location photo shooting session. Tablets and smartphones are required for planning and/or to use as controllers in motion control systems or in specific applications like QDSLRDashboard & Timelapse+ View for smooth day to night to day transitions.

Summer days in Greece are hot, with temperatures above 33°C, but the temperature and moisture at night makes the night more chilly, so a thin jacket or a long sleeve shirt will cover you at night just fine.
Weather plays a very key role in night sky photography but it is unpredictable. There is only a minimal chance that weather may compromise our photography shooting conditions, but even if that happens, the lessons will continue if the conditions permit.
I like to shoot on clear nights, but light cloud cover can add a very interesting effect in your images. Even if there is partial cloud cover, I promise you that you will still take home some great shots and the knowledge on how to greatly capture the night sky on any given night.

For astrophotography images we will emphasize and use software applications like Photoshop and Lightroom plus free applications like Starstax, DeepSkyStacker and Sequator.

For time-lapses except the above, we will also use free software like LRTimelapse and DaVinci Resolve.
